How do you protect slab performance from the subgrade down?
By treating the geotech report as the controlling document. Expansive soils under a heavily loaded slab are managed at the subgrade stage: lime treatment at the specified depth and rate, moisture conditioning inside the specified window, engineered fill in thin verified lifts, and proof-rolls witnessed at the specified points. Every lift is tested by the project's independent firm before the next goes down, so by the time the pad is turned over, its documentation reads like a lab log. Who handles design, testing, and inspection on the civil scope?
Independent parties, by design. Civil and structural engineering stay with the engineers of record; geotechnical and materials testing belong to the project's third-party firm; municipal and utility inspectors cover public infrastructure and tie-ins. TerraTek builds to the issued drawings, schedules the hold points, and delivers passing results — we never self-certify, because a data center owner's diligence process should not have to take a contractor's word for anything.
Where in Texas do you take on data center work?
Statewide. The current build-out runs through Abilene and West Texas — where power and land favor large campuses and where TerraTek is closest to home — as well as the metro corridors around Austin and San Antonio. Our crews mobilize as a self-contained unit, so remote greenfield sites get the same standards, documentation, and supervision as a metro campus.
